Three Yard Capacity:
This specification is for providing one (1) new model, portable slide in or permanent mount electric heated, asphalt patch box such as "Patch King" model PK30H or approved equal, which is intended to be mounted in/on the bed of a five/six yard dump truck.

Must fit in a dump bed which measures 72" in length (96 " with Tack Tank) with the tail gate removed and 84" in width 6" above the floor

TOP LOADING DOORS:
shall have two (2) hydraulic operated, hinged and insulated top loading doors approximately 72" x 24"

Three (3.0) cubic yards asphalt (approx 4.5 tons) maximum

WEIGHT:
Hot asphalt box shall have a minimum weight of 2500 pounds when empty.

COLOR:
Standard factory color is black. Other colors available on request

FUNCTION:
The Patch-Box shall be capable of keeping 3.0 yards of hot mix at working temperature for a ten (10) hour period by use of the built in electric heating system. It shall also have the ability to preheat the box by either manually turning the heat on or by means of a time clock to raise the temperature prior to loading the box with hot mix. (Time clock is an option)

HEATING:
Shall be electric of the Lo-Density type, which does not exceed one (1) watt per square inch of heated surface on the box's bottom, sides and both ends and back gates.

ELECTRIC HEATERS:
Shall be 10kW, 240V 1 or 3 phase or 480V3phase.There shall be a minimum of 15 heating elements running the length and width the box, evenly separated to heat all surfaces equally

Heaters shall be open coil design featuring patented "Coil Lock" high temperature insulators supporting 80/20 grade nickel/chromium resistance wire of 20 gauge or heavier. Heaters shall be sheathed in 2" minimum OD. Tubing with a 14-gauge minimum wall thickness

The heaters shall be capable of maintaining a uniform temperature in a range from 50 degrees to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. HEATING ELEMENT SHALL BE REMOVABLE WITHOUT REMOVING THE INSULATION.

CONTROL PANEL:
The control panel shall be UL-LISTED and built in a facility subscribing to UL's listing and recognition services for industrial control equipment, UL 508. The panel will carry the UL label for "Enclosed Industrial Control Equipment"

Panel construction shall be a NEMA type IV Enclosure rain-tite and dust-tite and shall be U.L. listed and approved with industrial type controlling thermostat, contactors and fusing

DISCHARGE DOORS:
Shall also be independently electrically heated not to exceed 1 watt per square inch.

SELECTOR SWITCH:
Shall have a Hi-Low heat selector switch to provide heat for full or partial loads. This switch shall be mounted in the control panel. It shall be capable of providing energy individually to the floor and gates or to the floor, sides, ends, and gates

PLUG CONNECTORS AND CABLES:
Electric plug connectors and cable shall be power-tite, pin and sleeve type receptacle and plug with ground. Plug shall be rain- tite, and weather-tite with 25 ft. cable 90 degree centigrade type S.O. heavy duty of appropriate volt braided wire, with all to be U.L. approved.

BOX CONSTRUCTION:
Box shall be constructed of steel plate electrically welded and reinforced at all juncture points.

FLOOR:
The floor shall be constructed of 1/4" minimum thickness steel plate

SIDE-WALLS:
The side-walls shall be constructed of 10-gauge minimum thickness steel plate or approved equal

END-WALLS:
The end walls shall be constructed of 10-gauge minimum thickness steel plate.

TOP-DOORS:
The two (2) top doors shall be full-length hollow core type approximately 72" long x 24" wide by 2" thick constructed of sheet steel with insulation completely filling the core. The top doors shall be independently operated and controlled by hydraulic cylinders, minimum size of 2" diameter. Controls for the top doors shall be located at the rear of the box along with control valves for the discharge gates

END GATES:
The two (2) end gates (discharge gates), shall be heated of the hollow core type, approximately 24" wide x 18" high x 2" thick - constructed of sheet steel with insulation completely filling the core. These end gates shall be independently raised by use of a hydraulic cylinder, minimum size of 2" diameter, lifts to open either of the gates for discharge of the heated asphalt materials. Control station located for optimum visibility of all operations, including hydraulic control for open and close of top and rear doors. These gates shall be of the vertical lift type

INSULATION (minimum):
All insulation shall be (3) pound density fiberglass, which provides the minimum R rating required, or an approved equal insulation

TOP-DOORS AND END GATES:
Two (2) inch thick - Three (3) pound density that provides R4.5 per inch of thickness for an R-value of 9

BOTTOM:
Three (3) inch thick - three (3) pound density fiberglass that provides R4.5 per inch of thickness for an R-value of 13.5

Three (3) inch thick - three (3) pound density fiberglass that provides R4.5 per inch of thickness for an R-value of 13.5

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM:
The hydraulic system for the top doors and discharge gate shall be powered from the truck chassis hydraulic system by use of a diverter valve DS75, or approved equal. Hydraulic hose shall have a minimum I.D. of 3/8" SAE 200R8 with UV resistance and a minimum of 16,000 PSI burst pressure or approved equal

WARRANTY:
The entire unit shall have one (1) year warranty (minimum) parts and labor. This warranty shall be furnished with and as a part of the bid document and the warranty on the entire unit shall begin when the patch box is put into operation. The heating elements will have a five-year warranty

OPTIONS:

Patch box mounting hardware shall be supplied for securing the box in the chassis dump body while in operation and shall have lifting eyes for removal of Patch Box from chassis body

TIMECLOCK CONTROL PANEL:
Complete panel for remote mounting to provide a means of preheating the box either by a time clock or a manual setting. (Hand Off- Automatic) selector switch

SHOVELING APRON:
This unit shall be equipped with an asphalt-shoveling apron, which is constructed of 10-gauge sheet metal. Approximate size 20" x 20" x 70" wide. This apron shall be hinge connected to the lower rear of the box, shall be supported with chains and shall be divided into two (2) equal sections (option) for ease of operation.
